Kuwait taking precautionary measures to prevent the Nipah virus
Health Ministry is taking all the precautionary measures to prevent the Nipah virus (NiV) from India arriving into Kuwait.
According to local report, Dr Mustafa Redha, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health confirmed that all precautionary measures have been taken at health facilities in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.
The Nipah virus has infected many areas of the southern Indian state of Kerala. NiV infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans.
Earlier Kuwaiti Embassy in New Delhi issued a warning to Kuwaiti citizens in India and those planning to travel to the nation to avoid regions affected by the deadly Nipah virus.
